It may seem like an obsession with phones, but dancehall artist KipRich says his new song  Smartphone was inspired by personal experiences.

Years ago, KipRich released Telephone Ting, and about three weeks ago he gave the public Smartphone.

“The concept is about this girl who can’t get herself out of her phone. Is like we go out on a dinner date and is her phone she into all night,” he told The Gleaner.

“Is sup’m weh mi see happen everywhere. The woman dem can’t stay off dem phone. If she was into me like how she into the phone, everything would be good.

“Mi haffi jus talk bout weh mi see a happen. When it come to the phones, is sup’m weh mi nuh have no luck with. Is either woman a go search mi phone or she a go into her phone more than me. A lot a people can relate to it. It is a natural thing weh a happen right now,” he said.
