Headline acts include Jamaican legends Horace Andy, Derrick Morgan, Keith & Tex (making their debut United Kingdom appearance), Ken Parker, Mad Professor, Dennis Bovell and Jazz Jamaica.
The venues include the lawns of the Victoria & Albert Museum, Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square (screening Madness’ 1981 Take It or Leave It film), The Dixie Queen Thames cruise, and Camden Town’s Jazz Cafe, Dingwalls, Barfly, The Forge and Electric Ballroom.
LP series
In addition to the series of events, the event’s organisers have also launched The London Intl Ska Festival Collector’s LP series, which features nine exclusive and limited-edition vinyl albums from legendary reggae champion Dennis ‘Blackbeard’ Bovell, Phoenix City All-stars, Goldmaster All-stars and Top Cats (featuring members of Ska Cubano), Pama Intl meets Wrong Tom, Rebelation, The Sidewalk Doctors and The Indecision.
The London Intl Ska Festival was originally launched in 1988 and showcases Ska from it’s roots in R&B, mento and calypso, through the Jamaican originators and on into rocksteady, reggae, dub, 2 tone, skapunk and beyond.
