This year marks the 30th anniversary since the release of BobMarley’s Legend album.

Legend was originally released on May 8, 1984, and this summer, Universal Music Enterprises (UME) will mark the historic occasion with the release of a special CD/Blu-ray edition of the album.

On July 1, UME will release a CD/Blu-ray Pure Audio Disc combo set titled Legend 30th Anniversary Edition, produced by Island Records,Tuff Gong Music and UME.

According to online reports, the deluxe version of the album was mixed by Grammy Award-winning producer Bob Clearmountain.

The album is said to feature an early studio version of No Woman, No Cry, as well as previously unheard alternate takes of Easy Skanking and Punky Reggae Party. The takes were recently discovered in the Marley vault.

Other tracks to be included are Three Little BirdsOne Love/People Get ReadyI Shot The SheriffJammingExodusRedemption Song, and Is This Love.

Both the CD and Blu-ray Pure Audio Disc can be found in a 28-page book featuring unseen photos and forewards written by Sir Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder, and liner notes by author of the book Marley, Christopher Farley.

Special vinyl copies

Legend 30th Anniversary Edition will also be made available on vinyl bearing the colors associated with the Rastafari movement – red, gold and green.

Legend remains the world’s best selling reggae album to date and continues to be one of the best selling catalogue albums.

Tomorrow will mark the 33rd anniversary of the death of the late reggae icon.
