Wailing Trees takes it—-WAILING Trees of France won the 12th edition of the Rototom European Reggae Contest held recently in the French city of Bordeaux.
A press release from promoters of the August 16-23 event says the sextet will perform August 19 on its main stage.
Wailing Trees was among 126 bands who participated in the European Reggae Contest which began in March.
According to the release, over 10,000 fans followed the competition which was streamed live on Rototom.tv.
Wailing Trees’ sound is described as a mix of reggae, soul, jazz, and soul. Their influences include American band Groundation, Kymani Marley and The Abyssinians.
Their first album, Selon ma Nature, was released in October 2012.
The 2014 Rototom Festival takes place in Benicassim, Spain.
