Illey Dread—ALTHOUGH it has been a while since reggae singer Illey Dread made music headlines, the entertainer says he’s in for one busy summer.

Illey Dred, who also uses the moniker Chardavid, said he had stepped away from performing to concentrate on production.

“My focus for the last two years or so has been the creative side of the music business, doing some stuff with my son, working on a project with Demolition Man and ironing out some important deals. However, I have also been doing a few shows here and there – mainly charity stuff – just to keep a presence,” he said.

Illey Dread (given name Colin Levy) is known for tracks including Lover’s Holiday, A Friend for Life, Rise Up This Morning and Flowers in My Garden.

According to the singer, July 1 will see him in the Land of the Maple Leaf performing in the annual Cannabis Festival in Vancouver, BC. The following day, he is scheduled for Reggae meets Hip Hop at the Vancity Medicinal Society in Vancouver. The singer is also booked for the three-day festival One Love – Order At The Border at Niagara Falls July 4-6. Freddie McGregor, R Kelly, The Whispers, Johnny Osbourne, Faith Evans and Errol Dunkley are also billed for the show.

Also on Illey Dread’s itinerary is the annual Jamaica Day celebrations and the two-day Jambana Festival in Toronto scheduled for August 4-5
