Released by the Universal Music Group on Tuesday, the 10-track set is part of her prize for winning the US televised talent show, The Voice.
The Margolins, who operate New Jersey Foot and Ankle Center in Oradell, declared Thursday ‘Tessanne Chin Day’ and distributed 30 albums they had purchased to clients who visited their place of business.
“I have never really got into another artist like this in a long time. It takes a lot for me to get into another artist. After she won [The Voice], I watched her videos and listened to In Between Words (her independent debut). I read about her life and her family. I also got familiar with her older sister [Tami] and listened to her beautiful voice too. My husband loves country & western music, but when she sang Bridge Over Troubled Water, it brought a tear to his eye. That is what did it for him, that song,” Amy Margolin told the Jamaica Observer.
A registered nurse with over two decades of experience, Amy said she and her family met the singer at the Oracabessa Festival in Queens, New York, in May.
“She’s such a sweet person. I got to meet her husband too, and her manager Sharon Burke,” she said.
Margolin sees the Jamaican artist as a role model.
“I am a mother and there are a lot of problems with role models who kids are looking up to and I just think she is a very good example for people, on how to behave, and being a grateful and positive person as opposed to corrupting the kids,” she said.
The registered nurse said she was also impressed when she read that Chin performed at an Anti-Defamation League event hosted by Touched By An Angel actress Roma Downey and her TV executive husband Mark Burnett.
“I was very honored that Tessanne would sing at that because my husband’s family was in the Holocaust. It feels amazing that she did that. I like the things that she stands for. She’s more than a singer, she encompasses helping people,” said Margolin.
The Voice recently wrapped up its sixth season, but there has not been a breakout star. Margolin hopes Chin will fill that slot.
“After she won it [The Voice], I didn’t want her to go. I wanted to do something more to make her popular, to make her make it, because the other prior winners haven’t gone as far as they should have. If you want the person to be successful, you have to follow through and buy her music and support her,” Margolin said.
When asked if she had been to any of The Voice tours, she responded: “Personally, I am just waiting on her [Chin] solo tour.”
Her favourite tracks on Count On My Love is Everything Reminds Me of You and Loudest Silence.
“They are like 10 little children, they are all so good,” she said.
Up to late yesterday, the album was at number 60 on the iTunes Top 100 Album Chart.
