KING BANTON… music is and has always been my thing—-

Reggae singer King Banton’s version of Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline seems to have hit all the right notes.

The song is number one spot on the South Florida Reggae Chart, number two on the New York Foundation Radio Top 30 chart and number nine on the Miami WAVS chart.

Commenting on response to the single, the South Florida-based singer said. “It has been sweet indeed!”

Sweet Caroline is one of Diamond’s biggest hits. King Banton says he grew up listening to the song and was encouraged to cover it by a friend.

He is promoting his album, You Can Make It, which was released in January by TrainLine Records. Sweet Caroline is its lead single.

Last year, King Banton toured the United States west coast with Anthony B and is keen to take his act to Europe which has a huge roots-reggae market.

“Music is and has always been my thing, I don’t know how to do anything else,” he declared. “But sometimes you need to get out of your comfort zone.”

King Banton started his career as deejay Crissy Banton but changed his moniker after an emcee mistakingly introduced him as a female.

King Banton has been steadily recording over the years. Some of his songs include Mr Rise and Fall, Only a Matter of Time, Zion’s Gate, and a cover of the Melodians’ You Don’t Need Me.
