This year marks the 30th anniversary since the release of Bob Marley’sLegend album and there have been many celebratory products made to commemorate the event thus far. Now, even ice cream makers, Ben & Jerry’s have got in on the celebration.
There ice cream company has formulated a new flavor to mark the historic event. The new special-edition ice cream flavour is called Satisfy My Bowl, and is a concoction of banana ice cream beats, caramel and cookie swirls topped with chocolate bits in the shape of peace signs.
The idea was made a reality through a partnership between the 1Love Foundation and Ben & Jerry’s. Proceeds from the ice cream sales will go towards the foundation’s efforts to empower young people in Jamaica, and continue Marley’s legacy of using music to change the world.
The flavor is set to be launched early next month at an event in the United Kingdom titled, The Legend Session, where emerging artists from around the country will be invited to submit their original music for a chance to come up with their own unique versions of Bob Marley’sLegend tracks live on stage.
Satisfy My Bowl will be available across the UK, Netherlands, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, and Norway.
The new flavor will not be available in the United States and already a fan has made a petition to have the ice cream sold there. The fan hopes to get 5,000 supporters for the petition which it will send to Ben & Jerry’s in the hope of persuading them into bringing the Marley-inspired flavor to the United States. On Thursday, the petition already received over 2,300 signatures.
