YUNG JR is compiling tracks for his EP Start the Movement which he co-produced with Adonui Reid.
“As the name suggest, Start The Movement is not just a musical project but also a movement of a new upright revolution that seeks to enlighten the people spiritually and physically,” he told Splash. “It is also a mixture of different genres and styles displaying my versatility.”
One of the singer’s favourite songs on Start The Movement is General which addresses the plight of youth living in so-called garrison communities.
Raggamuffin and No More Tomorrow are also included on the EP which will be released this year.
Yung JR (real name Ababa Reid) attended Ardenne High school and Jamaica College. He released his debut single, High High, a collaboration with his father Junior Reid and Chris Mattic, in 2012.
The 21-year-old says he feels no pressure following in his father’s footsteps.
“I being a son of Junior Reid was just intrinsic and cannot be denied. My father’s legacy is my legacy. I am an extension of my father’s soul and purpose here on Earth,” he stated.
