DANCEHALL quartet LUST is currently working on material for a new studio album.
The group — consisting of Lukie D, Thriller U, Singing Melody and Tony Curtis — told the Jamaica Observer that their preparations and rehearsals for Friday’s performance at Soul in the Sun music festival in Montego Bay, had taken a chunk out of their studio time.
“We have been producing ourselves for about 10 years now and we are now back in the studios recording for the upcoming project. So far, we have a new single called I Had Enough, along with the video which is a relationship and breaking up kinda vibe,” said Singing Melody.
The group’s last album — Inspiration — was recorded in 2010. Three years prior to that, they recorded Sweetness of Your Love.
Singing Melody also said that having been on tour in Europe this summer, the group was introduced to a number of new rhythms and styles which will be introduced and have people wondering if LUST has changed their musical style and focus.
“We have some EDM (Electronic Dance Music) style coming and some dub step kinda vibe. We’ve been in Europe touring for this summer and we get a lot of riddims and different vibes from people like Silly Walks Discotheque and Jugglerz. So, we are currently in studio recording non-stop. It’s gonna be a really nice vibe,” he added.
No release date or name for the album has yet been decided on, as Singing Melody says the group intends to keep it spontaneous as it relates to naming the project.
He further said fans of the group can also look forward to a summer track for 2015 called Sweat Shop.
“A bag a something gonna happen in that and people are going to wonder ‘A LUST dat, dem change?’ But it’s now change, sometimes you just have to step out of the box,” said Singing Melody.
The group was in fine form at Soul in the Sun on Friday as they shared the stage with the likes of American R& B singer Keith Sweat and groups Dru Hill and Silk. During LUST’s strong performance, they dropped hit tracks recorded as a group, as well as individually. Their set went over well with the audience.
