The leader of the Trinidadian muslim group Jamaat Al Muslimeen, Yasin Abu Bakr, has been denied entry into Jamaica.
The ministry has cited Section 4 (1) h of the Immigration Restriction (Commonwealth Citizens) Act.
What the Act says:
“The following Commonwealth citizens (not being persons deemed to belong to the Island as defined by sub section (2) of section 2) are prohibited immigrants:
(h) any person who, from information or advice which in the opinion of the Minister is reliable information or advice, is deemed by the Minister to be an undesirable inhabitant of or visitor to the island.”
An airport official said Abu Bakr became boisterous after he was refused entry.
The Ministry says preparations are being made to escort him back to Trinidad and Tobago.
On Friday July 27, 1990, members of the Jamaat Al Muslimeen attempted to overthrow the government of Trinidad and Tobago.
