SINGER Dillgin returns to the music scene with two singles, Shining and Weed and Wheat. The former is produced by Dillgin for Wall Streetz Records while Weed and Wheat is produced by Paran Sound.
Dillgin started his career in 2001 as a deejay. He emerged that year with the breakout single Cuss Cuss featuring singer Mark Ice.
That song’s popularity resulted in a number of performances across Europe, the Caribbean and the United States. Cuss Cuss was featured on VP Records’ Strictly the Best Volume 27.
A brush with death and ‘life-changing events’ saw Dillgin relocating from New York City to California. He decided to get back into the recording groove, but this time as a singer.
“While visiting family in New York I ran into (bassist) Derrick Barnett of Sagittarius and Statement Band, and in the midst of a jam session, Shining took shape in what I would like to call a metaphysical session,” Dillgin explained.
Shining not only hears Dillgin’s evolution from deejay to singer, but his spiritual transformation.
“I am very conscious of the message and energy that I am projecting into the universe, and my vehicle for that is reggae music, and the daily principles that I live by,” he said.
The Kingston-born Dillgin (real name Robert Bailey) has also produced songs by Capleton (Never Get Down and Dutty Life), Beenie Man (Power and Shower), Sizzla (Buzz Rock Warrior) and Luciano (Mystery Babylon).
