Recording artist OMI, who burst onto the scene in 2012 with his hot single, Cheerleader, is now reaping the fruits of his labor.
The remix of his song, which features Felix Jaehn, was certified four times platinum by the Swedish National Record Chart, Sverigetopplistan.
The singer, who is managed by Clifton ‘Specilaist’ Dillon of Oufah Media and Production, told The Gleaner that he was pleased with the success of the song.
“It’s very exciting. I’m proud of my team, it seems like everything is falling in place. All the hard work is paying off.”
According to Specialist, he knew the song was a hit from day one.

In addition to the platinum certification in Sweden, Cheerleader Remix is also the No. 1 song on the ARIA (Australian Recording IndustryAssociation) singles chart.
The song was also No. 1 in Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands
OMI became the fourth artist from Jamaica to claim a No. 1 single in Australia, the other three being Carl Douglas with Kung Fu Fighting; Boris Gardiner for his ballad, I Wanna Wake Up With You; and Shaggy landed three chart-topping singles with Boombastic, It Wasn’t Me, and Angel.
Though he has been off the local scene for a while, the artist, who is also currently signed to Ultra Music, a division of Sony Music, says he is currently working on an album.
“I can’t divulge much about the album at this point, but I can say that it’s going to be very interesting. So even though it seems as though I’m missing from the local scene, we are putting in the work,” he said.
OMI is also making final preparations for a promotional tour of Sweden.
