Music producer Wayne ‘Lonesome’ Brown—

INDEPENDENT Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is currently probing a complaint from record producer Wayne ‘Lonesome’ Brown on police harassment.

Brown, principal of Run Things label, claims he was stopped by lawmen while driving on Cassia Park Road towards Molynes Road, Kingston, at about 11 am on Sunday, January 18. According to the producer, he was subjected to a 30-minute search. Despite assurances that he had nothing illegal on him, his backseat was ripped apart and he was left with a $115,000 repair bill.

“I don’t think that their approach was right. I was travelling with my son and my nephew. They signalled us to stop, and we stopped,” Brown told the Jamaica Observer.

“All I was expecting from them was to check to see if my documents were in order. But they tore up my seat for no reason and now it is going to cost me $115,000 to repair it. That can’t be right,” he continued.

The producer provided documents to substantiate his claim that the matter was reported to INDECOM. He said he was awaiting the outcome of their intervention.

“I am most concerned about the choice of people that are being recruited in the police force and how they treat people on the streets,” Brown added.
