THE tribute concert to celebrate the life and music of reggae’s crown prince, Dennis Emmanuel Brown, has been postponed.
The show was set for the Kingston Waterfront this evening.
The event has become a principal showcase in the celebration of Reggae Month during February.
Brown’s daughter, Marla, who was scheduled to perform, confirmed the postponement.
“I was called to a meeting yesterday (Thursday) where I was informed that the show is off. They are looking at something in July around the anniversary of dad’s death,” the British-born Brown told the Sunday Observer.
When pressed for a reason for the shifting in the date she offered: “I think they were coming up short on funds.”
Dennis Brown made his name as a bonafide star while in his teens. He scored with tracks including Cassandra, Westbound Train, Africa and No More Shall I Roam. He continued this trend during adulthood with smash album Wolf and Leopards.
Brown died in July 1999 of pneumonia complication. He was 42.
