FAST-RISING singjay Melloquence is back in the island after a three-week gig in Europe. The entertainer, who was visiting the continent for the first time, performed alongside dancehall artist Elephant Man.
“I opened 12 shows for Elephant Man in countries like Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. These were all club shows being it was still in the winter season, but they were all sold out shows. In one instance, we even had two shows in the same night,” Melloquence told the Jamaica Observer.
Melloquence said the gig afforded him the opportunity to have a fan base in Europe. He also said he received a favorable response to Hold Me, a collaboration with Elephant Man.
“Hold Me is one of those songs that a DJ can play in a dance and get the females to ‘bruk out’ while, at the same time, it’s radio friendly and commercial enough to be played at a family event and buss the
place. It’s just a ‘feel good’ song and, right now, the music needs that,” the 27-year-old explained.
According to Melloquence, he is scheduled to return to Europe in the middle of this month to shoot a music video for the EDM single called Get it On. The track, produced by Bikini Ape, was done with Swiss native Johhny Roxx.
“I have a one-month promotional tour lined up too,” he said.
Melloquence, given name Ramone Drake, is from Linstead in St Catherine. He first came to the public’s attention after making the top 10 of the 2008 staging of the talent search Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall competition.
