New York-based Reggae singer Tom Laing is ready for the big times.

The Trench Town native, who is known for hits such as Belly of the Beast ft. Capleton, Finally Free and One More Thing is currently riding a wave of success with his cover of Gregory Isaacs, Front Door.

Laing’s version of the song recently topped the Foundation Radio Network Top 30 Music Chart in New York and the South Florida Top 25 Reggae Chart.

The single which was produced by topflight musician/producer Donni Marshall is currently number five on the Jamaica Music Countdown top 25 Reggae Singles Chart.

“I’m happy that my fans have responded so positively to Front Door. A lot of people are asking me to cover songs from other great Jamaican singers such as Dennis Brown, Alton Ellis and John Holt, but I have declined. I don’t want to be labelled as a cover singer, I only recorded Front Door because Gregory Isaacs was a very good friend and mentor to me.”

Tom Laing is currently working on a six track EP tentatively titled Love Is Ok, which will be released by VP Records this summer.

“Since I launched my career I have consistently released good songs and my fans have been requesting an album for a while now, but I’m going to put out an EP first. The EP will feature mostly new songs and a couple of my previously released tracks,” said Tom Laing.

Laing also stated, “This EP will be the first step towards taking my career to a higher level in the music business. I am very happy that VP Records has recognized the impact of the work I’ve done so far and have decided to work with me on this project.”
