DANCEHALL recording artist Dexta Daps is scheduled to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court in St James, on May 13.

The 28-year-old is booked to answer four charges relating to an incident involving lawmen at the Sangster International Airport in the second city on Monday.

The charges are: obstructing the police; the use of indecent language; resisting arrest; and assault occasioning bodily harm

The artist whose given name is Louis Grandison — is said to have parked his vehicle in a restricted area of the airport facility and was being ticketed for the offence.

In videos of the incident which were uploaded on social media platforms, the dancehall singjay is heard questioning why he is being arrested.

A tussle ensues as the cops try to slap on handcuffs on the artist who continues to question why he is being arrested.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer recently, Dexta Daps said he was putting in the work to ensure that he was no flash-in-the-pan, one-hit-wonder.

“It’s like a regular 9-5 for me. If I don’t work, I don’t get paid. I make a schedule which oftentimes starts with chilling with my peers on the corner, then it’s off to the studios to record. Sometimes, while holding a vibe with the youths, I may come up with the lines to a song, so every minute of my day is well spent,” he said.

Dexta Daps is known for songs including 7 Eleven, Pretty Nicky, This a the Best and Jealous Ova, a collab with female dancehall sensation Tifa.
