ROCKAZ Elements — a new group from Spanish Town, St Catherine — is slated to debut its single, Always Be Burning, at the Triple Century Sports Bar in New Kingston tonight.
The core members include siblings I-Talented (Alex Taffe) and I-Gifted (Ainsworth Taffe) and
their childhood friend Unbroken Element (Raymond Dawkins), who all met in the church where they honed their skills.
The outfit is being managed by Caribbean Rockaz Entertainment — a “full service” record company.
“There definitely needs to be more record companies in Jamaica offering full service to the artists with whom they work, and we envision Caribbean Rockaz Entertainment as game-changers in the ever-evolving musical landscape,” said Tyehimba Kafele, team member.
In addition to Kafele, respected music producer Clive Hunt, Rohan Silvera and Elaine Stewart complete the team.
“In this era, record labels continue to sign ‘360 contracts’ with artists and many of our reggae/dancehall acts don’t fully understand the implications of such contracts,” Kafele added.
Among Caribbean Rockaz Entertainment goals are to build artists, with entrepreneurial skills; offer guidance and sound advice regarding production, performance, branding, marketing, merchandising; shed much-needed light on blurred areas such as publishing and rights; and to show reggae artists how to further monetise their career.
