THE Montego Bay police have arrested a man who they believe can assist them in their investigation of the shooting death of Derrick ‘Corey’ Edwards on Thursday night.
Edwards, 32, was a member of dancehall group Merital Family.
According to the Corporate Communication Unit (CCU), the Jamaica Constabulary information arm, no charges have been laid against the suspect who was picked up on the weekend. Investigations are ongoing.
A past student of St James High School, Edwards — a singjay — was shot and killed by unknown assailants as he approached his car in Ironshore, St James.
The late artist, as well as Noel ‘Blade Skeemaz’ Mason and Trovoy Keneale Bracket comprised the group Merital Family.
The group rose to fame as part of Vybz Kartel’s Portmore Empire with the 2010 single My Money Ha Ha. Their other tracks include Pray, When We Party and Bad Like We.
