JANETJACKSON.COM—

What do you do when you want to create without being told what and when to create? If you’re Janet— Ms. Jackson if You’re Nasty—you create your own record label. Jackson is readying the release of her untitled album under her new record label, Rhythm Nation.

Rhythm Nation will “offer a home to both new and established recording artists,” according to a press release on Jackson’s website, which seems to be bogged down with traffic since the announcement was made. The new record label will fall under BMG and will offer artists full ownership of their recordings and “full oversight of all costs and revenues” as an “artist services deal,” according to Rolling Stone.

BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch said, “Janet is not just a supreme artist; she is a unique cultural force whose work resonates around the world. It is an honor that she has chosen BMG to release her long-awaited new album. We look forward to collaborating with her across every platform.”

Earlier this month, Jackson teased her upcoming album and tour with a short video that got fans around the world riled up.
