PRODUCER Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry and musician Junior Marvin, who played significant roles in the career of Bob Marley, will pay tribute to the reggae icon at this year’s Rototom Festival.

The eight-day event will be held in Benicassim, Spain from August 15 to 22.

Marvin, a guitarist who played on Marley’s epic Exodus and Survival albums, performs on opening day.

He joined the singer’s Wailers band in 1977 and brought an edgy feel to their roots sound with hard rock solos.

Perry produced some of Marley and the Wailers’ most potent songs, such as Soul Rebel, Small Axe and Duppy Conqueror on August 21.

He also produced Punky Reggae Party, a considerable hit for Marley in the United Kingdom in 1977.

The largest of the European festivals, Rototom is celebrating the 70th anniversary of Marley’s birth. He died in May 1981 from cancer at age 36.

Marvin is among the artists slated for the day-long salute on the 15th.
