Washington DC-based Reggae artist Tony Roy is making great strides on becoming a talent to be reckoned with. He has been compared to Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Gregory Isaacs and Beres Hammond.
Hungry for Your Love, Tony’s first single, earned him several awards included Best Recording in 2008 at the DC Reggae Awards. His first full CD, Waiting List, won Best Recording and Producer for 2010. His song, Just Gwaan hit the No.1 spot for two weeks on Richie B’s Top 25 Reggae Singles chart in Jamaica, and No.1 for one week on Captain Kirks’ Miami Chart (WAVS 1170am)
His latest CD is Road Block, which was launched on June 12. Several of its tracks are earning tremendous airtime on several radio stations in Jamaica and England. Additionally, veteran broadcaster Clinton Lindsay, has recently added the track “Dancehall Nice Again” to his Foundation Radio Network’s playlist. Over the years, Tony Roy has been busy performing and promoting his songs. He has earned a promising reputation as a positive Reggae artist and his melodic sound appeals to a vast diverse worldwide audience.
Tony Roy has performed at various events, including The Washington Post Summer in the Park, Jamaica Day Festival, Budweiser Summer Fest, Linganore Wine Festival, Shenanigan, Jamaica Wine Festival and others. He has also opened for Michael Rose, Sister Carol and Alpha Blondy, while sharing the stage with the likes of Beres Hammond, Leroy Sibbles, Freddie McGregor, Frankie Paul, and Buju Banton.
