THE on-again, off-again ‘Marcia Griffiths and Friends’ shows in the United Kingdom, have been rescheduled for late April at four venues.
Copeland Forbes, who is organizing the shows, told the Jamaica Observer that Griffiths, Judy Mowatt, Bob Andy, Tanya Stephens and Richie Spice are confirmed for the gigs, which take place at O2 Shepherds Bush Empire (August 28), O2 Academy in Birmingham (August 29), O2 Academy in Leeds (August 30), and O2 Academy in Bristol on August 31.
The acts will be backed by the 809 Band.
The shows had been cancelled twice: last September when promoters failed to attract sufficient sponsorship, and in May when the artists had a falling-out with promoter Malinnga Tejan-Sie.
Forbes said the London-based Tejan-Sie is no longer in the picture. Administrators at the O2 venues have assumed the role of promoters.
The Marcia Griffiths and Friends shows kicked off in January 2014 at the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival in Montego Bay.
The second took place at Groovin’ In The Park in Queens, New York in July 2014.
They are part of a series celebrating Griffiths’s 50th year in the music business.
