Vocalist/guitarist Chris Montague, keyboardist/vocalist Chris Cope, bassist/vocalist Fabian Acuna and drummer Tristan McNeil soaked it up through touring partners (and Bob Marley grandsons) Biggz General and Alex Marley, as well as Sunshine State reggae friends Inner Circle.

Delray Beach bands offer mix of reggae and adult contemporary photo
ARTIKaL Sound System is made of drummer Tristan McNeil (from left), vocalist/guitarist Chris Montague, keyboardist/vocalist Chris Cope, bassist/vocalist Fabian Acuna.

Those island vibes ring loud and clear on their new “Inversions” EP.

Montague’s socio-political lyrical imagery on “Take the Power” is fueled by Acuna’s muscular bass line, and the de-accelerated, uplifting “What They Need” features guest vocals by Menny More. McNeil’s intricate drumming drives the more acoustic “In the Air,” and Cope’s keyboards spike the acidic “Secret Societies” — and show that he and Montague also learn while earning. Both are instructors at the guitarist’s own Delray Beach-based SoFlo Music School.
