Reggae’s living legend Jimmy Cliff (born James Chambers, April 1, 1948) became the Jamaican artist with the longest span between number ones, when his latest single “Child Abuse” tops the Jamaica Music Countdown! Cliff was 14 years old in 1962 when the Leslie Kong produced “Hurricane Hattie” topped the JBC Top 20 Chart.
Fifty-three years later, at age 67, the Winston “Niney” Holness produced “Child Abuse” puts Cliff back in the top spot, placing him in the history book of Jamaican music, 53 years between No.1’s.
