Britain’s Prime Minister, David Cameron, will address a joint meeting of both houses of Jamaica’s Parliament at Gordon house on Wednesday at 8:25 am.
This was confirmed this evening in a release from parliament outlining next week’s schedule for the House of Representatives and the Senate and their committees.
Speculation is that Cameron will announce some bilateral initiatives on national security and justice when he visits. OBSERVER ONLINE has learnt that the visit has been in the making for several months, and that the trip to Jamaica last month by the British Minister for the Caribbean, Grant Shapps, was in preparation for this.
During his visit, Shapps discussed “strong” links between the UK and Jamaica and explored further co-operation, in areas such as the promotion of bilateral trade and investment, and the threat to both countries from drug trafficking and organised crime.
