THERE is more to Gramps Morgan than music. A member of sibling band Morgan Heritage, he has moved into the culinary scene with Gramps Morgan Farm Sauces.

In an interview with the Sunday Observer, Morgan said a love for food inspired the decision to create his own sauce.

“I’ve always loved cooking food since the day I saw my father make a sweet potato pudding. After that, a friend of mine said to me I should try farming and I took his advice… I’ve always liked watching things grow out of the ground. It’s truly a blessing of nature,” he said.

Currently, the burly musician has four products: hot and mild jerk seasoning, jerk barbecue sauce and Scotch bonnet pepper sauce.

“I’m looking to have the products in stores in Jamaica by Christmas and the rest of the world by early 2016,” he said.

Little over a decade ago, the Morgan patriarch Denroy Morgan started planting coffee on the family estate in St Thomas. This led to more agricultural products and in 2012, alongside Gramps, he began farming peppers.
