In 1986 Patrick Anthony Morrison, an aspiring singer who had grown up in Porus in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica, took the second prize in the Tastee Talent contest. Brian Thompson took the first. Admiring each other’s skills, the two young men decided to form a vocal team, and the world got Brian and Tony Gold, one of Jamaica’s most prolific duos giving us hits such as ‘Bullseye’, ‘Poisin’ with Dennis Brown, ‘Irresistale’, ‘Compliments’ with Red Dragon and the timeless ‘Can You’. The duo were featured on Sly and Robbie’s Grammy winning album, Friends, Sly and Robbie.
Patrick, more popularly know as Tony Gold, paused his career to lend his sweet charming vocals to Jamaica’s double diamond artist, Shaggy, for the pass twenty years, complimenting songs such as ‘Hey Sexy Lady – from the Lucky Day album’, ‘Genie – from the Midnight Lover album’ to name a few.
Now Tony Gold steps to fore once more. A true singer for the ladies, Tony is working with some of Reggae’s top producers preparing an EP to re-introduce his riveting vocals to his long time fans and introduce himself to those new to his sound. Shaggy’s Ranch Entertainment, Sting International, Syl Gordon – Cell Block Studio, Robert Livingston – Big Yard Studio are just some of the producers currently engaged. Plans are to work with Sly and Robbie and others.
The voice is timeless, the time is now……Tony Gold is here to soothe and inspire those warm loving feelings.
