Emerging singjay Jah Shawn is optimistic about his upcoming single called Gone Too Soon. Slated to be released next Tuesday, the single is the first from his debut EP entitled Authentic Jah Shawn. That project has a release date of November 15.

The singjay said he expects Gone Too Soon to resonate with listeners.

“I think this song will go places because the message is deep and real. Everyone knows about the pain associated with losing a loved one, so this track aims to comfort and just express my emotions as it relates to the passing of those closest,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

Gone Too Soon is produced by American-based Icons International. A music video is currently in the making for the track.

In the meantime, the singjay gave a peek into the seven-track EP, Authentic Jah Shawn which comprises production works from Icons Entertainment and Island Jams Entertainment.

Jah Shawn said the track listings includes a collaboration with Jah Vinchi called Top of We Game, Money Nuff, Shoot You Down and Grow Soft.

“All the songs are witty and catchy. However, I am most excited about Grow Soft because it was the single that opened a lot of doors for me. It make the streets know who I am and I even got a chance to perform in a few States in America,” he said.

Jah Shawn (Andre Cousins) hails from the talent rich Seaview Gardens in Kingston. That community produced a number of dancehall heavyweights including Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer and Elephant Man. However, he said his biggest influence is his uncle, a little-known deejay named Mr P from Bog Walk in St Catherine.

Money Wey Wi Want and Gideon Bus Now are among his previously released songs.
