London-based sibling group 3-in-1 are ready to make a mark in Jamaica. Brothers Desmond, Patrick and Fitzroy Johnson are currently promoting their latest single, the self-produced Too Nasty.
Originally from Portland, they were raised by their grandmother in that parish. She inspired their first song, Mama.
“It was a dedication to the hard life she (Aunt Martha) had endured raising us. From an early age we had a passion for music because we had so many influences musically,” said Desmond.
Fitzroy recalled: “We were influenced by the likes of Lt. Stitchie, Papa San and Professor Nuts. As youths growing up in Jamaica we loved the dancehall scene, and we used to sneak out of the home to go to the local dances.”
Twenty years ago, the brothers relocated to England to live with their parents. Fitzroy traveled to Jamaica regularly and made the link with producer Lloyd ‘King Jammys’ James, for whom they have done several songs.
