Freddie McGregor—

BEING an artist for over 50 years, Freddie McGregor is used to the unpredictability of the music business. He has had his share of ups and downs.

The 59-year-old singer says 2015 was a mixed bag.

“It was a balanced year for me. From summer onwards things picked up quite well…We toured a lot,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

McGregor kicked off his 2015 concert season in January at Rebel Salute followed by February dates in the United Kingdom alongside Romain Virgo.

Most of his overseas dates were in the United States with sporadic gigs in Jamaica. There was no album, but he said a new set, True to My Roots, is scheduled for release in early 2016.

“I have started 2016 running with the release of What You Gonna Do, the first single from the CD. It has entered the New York and South Florida charts and is already a pick for VP Records’ Strictly The Best series,” said McGregor.

He plans to to tour Japan, Europe and North America in 2016 to promote True to My Roots.
