According to reports, Hanna will be joined on the panel by Julia Morley, chair of the Miss World organisation; Mike Dixon, musical director for Miss World; as well as three other past winners – Ivian Sarcos (Miss World 2011, from Venezuela), Zhang Zilin (Miss World 2007), and Yu Wenxia (Miss World 2012), who are both from China PR.
Efforts to reach Hanna, who is minister of youth and culture, for a comment were unsuccessful.
This year’s representative from Jamaica, 24-year-old medical doctor Sanneta Myrie is currently in China preparing for the finals.
Jamaica has had three winners of the Miss World title: Carole Joan Crawford in 1963, Cindy Breakspeare in 1976, and Hanna. Hanna won the the contest 22 years ago in Sun City, South Africa. That year the panel of judges included Jamaican-born international model, singer and actress Grace Jones. In 2012, former franchise holder of the local pageant Mickey Haughton-James sat on the panel of judges.
Miss World 2015, the 65th edition of the pageant, will see 114 contestants vying for the title. The reigning queen is Rolene Strauss of South Africa.
