Sade Serena—

OF the countless hit songs that saturated the airwaves this year, Adele’s Hello

and Sorry by Justin Bieber resonated most with Miami native Sade Serena.

The South Florida singer was so taken with both songs that she covered them to dancehall beats.

“First time I heard Hello I was saying, ‘Yes, Adele is back’ with a smash after she went missing for a little. I was blown away by it; right then I knew I had to cover it,” Sade Serena told the Jamaica Observer.

She got a similar thrill listening to Sorry. Bieber called on EDM heavyweight Skrillex to produce the song which has a dancehall feel.

“As soon as I heard it, I feel that dancehall/reggae vibe, so I get with my in-house producer and came up with something more dancehall,” she said.

Fresh Garcia, Brian Williamson and J-Vibe — key players on the South Florida music scene — worked on the songs which were recently released by Uprize Music and Phantom Music Group…

Hello and Sorry close what has been a quiet year for 27-year-old Sade Serena, whose parents are Jamaican. Last year, she entered Billboard’s Heatseekers chart with the EP, GermiNation.

In 2013 her song, Tonight, peaked at number four on Billboard’s Hot Singles Sales chart.

As much as she yearns for a return to the pop tables, Sade Serena said she is not desperate for a hit song.

“I make songs always from the heart, but you want to know also that your work made it on a chart at least some of the times. But I don’t watch it, I just make the music.”

Her versions of Hello and Sorry are expected to be on a new EP scheduled for release in early 2016.
