REGGAE singer Chuck Fenda has teamed with Korean-American singer-songwriter Somong for the single 2 Your Heart.
“This song shows a different side of Chuck Fenda. Mi neva did a song with a R&B singer before,” Fenda told the Jamaica Observer yesterday. “It’s a song describing your feelings to a female and how much you love her.”
Produced by Somong, 2 Your Heart was released a month ago. Chuck Fenda explained how the collab came about.“Mi inna Miami and a friend of mine knew him and tell mi him (Somong) wanted to do a collab with a reggae artist… We met at the studio and I heard the song for the first and I just did my part off my head top… It wasn’t planned or anything,” he said.
“So we jus’ a push da song yah, right now.”
Chuck Fenda said 2 Your Heart is the first of many to come for the year, as he has an album in the works.
“I have laid the groundwork and voiced 10 songs already… I also did a collab with Etana. By the next two weeks, I woulda do seven more songs. We’re working on a March date for the album, so when we listen to the set, we’ll know which ones to drop and what to carry… we’ll have the name too by then,” he said.
He said he’s already booked for a five-week tour of Germany, France and Italy, and that would assist in boosting the upcoming set.
“We’re coming in full flight this year so everyone can look out for me… ’cause when mi come you know seh a judgement,” he said.
Chuck Fenda, whose real name is Leshorn Whitehead, was born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Jamaica.
His last album, Jah Element, was in 2013. He is known for hits including Coming Over Tonight (featuring Cherine Anderson), Gash Dem and Light Them, and Rough Out Deh.
