While writing songs for his EP, A Free Man, singer Prophecy wanted to reach a wide audience. To achieve that, he touched on diverse topics.

A Free Man is the St Thomas artist’s first collection of songs since his debut album,Break Loose, was released just over four years ago.

It contains the rootsy How Could I, produced by Dean Fraser, and the self-producedPuff and Pass.

“There’s a little a everything, from social issues to love, to the man who love him herb. All under the mandate of universal oneness,” said Prophecy.

 A Free Man was officially released last week. Prophecy recently completed a two-week stint in Florida promoting the mini set.

He is scheduled to do shows like the Dennis Brown Memorial and Trench Town Music Festival to expose his songs in Jamaica.

Prophecy said he has grown as an artist and songwriter since Break Loose.

“I an’ I know dat, yuh hear it in the songs, ‘cause wi a use the music fi empower a generation and a nation.”

Released in late 2011, Break Loose contained the songs Chance and No Body Bags. The latter is Prophecy’s biggest hit.

Born Rohan Brown, Prophecy first came to national prominence in 2005 when he won the Red Stripe Big Break Competition with Don’t Come Tell Me.
