GET Soca 2016, a compilation set, debuted at number 10 on Billboard’s Reggae album chart yesterday.
The project was released by Fox Fuse on February 5. Get Soca 2016 comprises recent soca hits from across the Caribbean.
The tracks include Intentions (Wine and Touch) by Erphaan Alves; Magic by Sekon Sta and Nadia Batson; All Ah We by Bajan soca star Peter Ram; Let Go by Jahmoun; No Behaviour by Cloud 5; Oh Yay by Olatunji; Party by Shal Marshall; People by Kes the Band; BET by Ricardo Drue; Dismantle by Denise Belfon; High by Terri Lyons and Lil Rick; Destra’s Dip N Ride; Money Done by Patrice Roberts; Crazy’s Is Not the Same; and Road Trip by Machel Montano.
“Our vision is to propel Caribbean music globally, and what better way to do that than to capture the essence of the majority of Caribbean islands, which is soca in all its forms, and package that for the world to enjoy,” said Rhona Fox of Fox Fuse.
Elsewhere on the Billboard Reggae album chart, the recently Grammynominated The Cure by Jah Cure moves up to number two, while Soca Gold 2015 rises to number three.
Monk Evolution by Machel Montano is at number five, while Iration’s Hotting Up is at number nine. The number one spot is still being held down by VP Records’ Reggae Gold 2015
