She has only one song to her name, but after a busy 2015 when she performed in Europe, Toronto-born Chelsea Stewart has the resume of a seasoned performer.

Stewart’s song, Over You, was released last year and did well on Canadian radio. It also got healthy airplay in the United States.

Over You, co-produced and co-written by Stewart and her Jamaican mother Karen, also earned her shows on major festivals like Rototom Sunsplash in Spain.

“That was cool, it was great to represent Canada at a major event like that,” she told the Jamaica Observer.

Even though she has done shows in Italy and the United Kingdom, making a mark in Jamaica would be special.“I definitely want to do more shows here in Jamaica this year, as well as promoteOver You here…write and record more.”

Stewart’s family is from St Catherine. She remembers ‘listening to a little of everything’ growing up in Toronto: reggae, soca, jazz and hip hop.

That eclectic ‘playlist’ enhanced an appreciation for different cultures and prepared her for gigs like Rototom which attracts a diverse audience.

Released last year, Over You is a pop number that did well enough to impress promoters at that event and in the United Kingdom where Stewart did a handful of dates in October.
