Almost 20 years after emerging with the anti-establishment song Fire Pon Rome, sing-jay Anthony B remains one of reggae’s most potent acts.
The roots artist is pushing Bad Mind, the third single from his latest album, Tears Of Luv, and is preparing for another set of overseas dates.
Tears Of Luv, he said, has done well on the strength of previously released songs,Love Come Down and Mau Mau Warrior. “The album has sold 6,000 physical copies, and that’s a pretty good figure for a reggae album without a major label behind it,” he said.
Tears Of Luv is distributed digitally by Zojak World wide.Anthony B is booked to perform in Abidjan on April 6. In the summer, he is scheduled to appear on several leading festivals including Reggae On The River in California, the Rhur Festival in Germany and Heineken Music Festival in the Netherlands.
Fire Pon Rome, produced by Richard Bell’s Startrail label, criticized a number of leaders in corporate Jamaica. It was banned from the airwaves but helped launch the career of Anthony B who was born Keith Anthony Blair in Trelawny.
