THERE was a sense of irony when singer Jahmiel walked away with ‘Breakout Artiste of The Year’ at last Sunday’s Jamaica Reggae Industry Association Awards (JaRIA).

The accolade came 10 years after he entered the music business.

“It’s a great feeling to be recognised for my work, even though it’s been over 10 years since I’ve been recording, it shows the importance of persistence. As ‘Breakout Artiste of The Year’ it also raise the bar to for me to continue to work hard and stay positive,” Jahmiel told the Jamaica Observer.

Gain The World is the 23-year-old’s best-known song to date. It impressed the JaRIA panel enough to give Jahmiel the award.

His follow-up songs include Great Man, Where Were You and Break Away. Reaching out to fans is priority for Jahmiel this year.“My focus for 2016 is to continue to feed the people with good, inspiring, uplifting, relatable music and to travel to my fans. For so many years I’ve only communicated via social media, now I plan to meet and greet my fans in their hometown,” he said.
