AS he kept in tune with current affairs, Andrew Robinson was struck by the alarming level of violence globally — from terrorism to domestic abuse.

It inspired the singer-songwriter to compose a song he named Bloodless Revolution.

Robinson came up with the concept 12 years ago, but felt the time was not right to start working on it. The project finally got going last year, resulting in an 18-song album that is being released today. It hears St Catherine-born Robinson sharing the spotlight with 17 artists from eight countries.

Each put their spin on the song, produced by Robinson, who has lived in Switzerland since 1999.“The concept behind this album is to promote changes by peaceful means. Twelve years ago when I wrote this song, if I had released it, it wouldn’t have had the Impact that it is having today with 18 artists from eight different countries speaking with one voice,” he told the Jamaica Observer.

It took nine months to complete Bloodless Revolution. Robinson, 53, handpicked the artists for his projected album; each was backed by his Back Lash band.

Black Dillinger from South Africa, Empress Marimba (Nigeria), Inity (Malawi) and Mega Jani from Zimbabwe are some of the African acts on Bloodless Revolution.

Ten Jamaicans, some of whom live in Europe and the United States, also contributed. They include Danny Sprang out of the United Kingdom, US-based Flawless Snypa and singjay Excel Black who is from Trelawny. Robinson started his career in the early 1980’s on the north coast scene. He has recorded three albums including 2009’s Where Is The Love.
