RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Reggae band leader Frederick “Toots” Hibbert has settled a lawsuit he filed against the organizers of an outdoor festival in Richmond, Virginia, after he was struck in the head with a vodka bottle in 2013.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch ( ) reports that news of the settlement comes after attorneys for Hibbert and Venture Richmond, the organizer of the Dominion Riverrock festival, both asked a judge to dismiss the lawsuit last month.
None of the parties involved would disclose details of the settlement.
The 73-year-old leader of Toots and the Maytals had filed a $20 million lawsuit in 2014, accusing Venture Richmond of negligence in planning security and alcoholic beverage sales.
William Connor Lewis received a six-month jail sentence for throwing the bottle. Hibbert’s attorneys said Hibbert received a concussion and was left with an altered personality.
