JAZZ vocalist Myrna Hague will be taking her signature show, Simply Myrna, to the Miramar Cultural Center in Florida on Sunday.
She will be accompanied by musical director Desi Jones, along with guitarist Eugene Grey and his band.
The veteran singer will be performing from her wide repertoire of jazz classics, popular reggae and pop selection, in her classy and inimitable style.
“As for ‘Simply Myrna’, this show just allows me to show off… because it’s my show, I get to sing what I want and to just be myself. This is the most exciting time of my life. South Florida, the UWI (University of the West Indies), and this show has been a gift,” she said.
Sunday’s concert will be under the distinguished patronage of Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam. Also slated to perform are vocalists AJ Brown and Ian Sweetness. Brown, a former solo act, is currently the lead singer for Third World.
This is Hague’s second performance at the venue. She was at the center’s official opening with her husband, trumpeter Sonny Bradshaw, back in 2008.
Bradshaw, founder of the Ocho Rios Jazz Festival, died in 2009.
Proceeds from the concert will go towards tuition fees for deserving students attending various UWI campuses throughout the Caribbean.
