Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor—

Producer Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor puts some pop into one of reggae’s most revered offshoots on his new project, an album titled Veterans In Dub.

It contains dub/pop renditions of classic dancehall songs such as Barrington Levy’sMurderer (Murderer In Dub), Maxi Priest’s Bonafide (Bonafide in Dub) and Sugar Minott’s Good Thing Going (Real Thing Going In Dub).

McGregor says Veterans In Dub “takes a bold step toward bringing pop/dub-style reggae to the forefront of the genre”. The 15-song album will be officially released May 20.

McGregor is one of dancehall’s top producers. He has produced a number of hit songs, including Gyptian’s Mama Don’t Cry, Queen Ifrica’s Daddy Don’t Touch Me There and Nothing To Smile About by Morgan Heritage.He has worked with pop/rhythm and blues artists, including Sinead O’Connor and Musiq Soulchild.
