Jamaican artists Bobo Zaro and Sean ‘Contractor’ Edwards have been confirmed for the annual Badagry Diaspora Festival in Lagos, Nigeria.
The week-long event is an observation of African culture, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and its abolition.
Bobo Zaro (born Ludlow Chin) is best known for the song Pain, a collaboration with Capleton. Contractor heads the marketing company that bears his moniker.
For Contractor, the Badagry Diaspora Festival is more than a show.
“I see music opportunities in oil-rich Nigeria and look forward to this cultural exchange,” he said. The Badagry Diaspora Festival was first held in 1999 in the town of Badagry, located in Lagos. In the early 18th century, it was one of the routes used by European slave traders transporting captured Africans to the New World.
