You might not believe it based on his clean-cut appearance, but Carson Daly was a huge reggae fan growing up. And the host of Last Call (2002-present), who turns 43 today, once got in over his head when he attended his first concert, Ziggy Marley’s hot-boxed performance in Santa Barbara, California.
In a March 2014 instalment of Jimmy Fallon’s web series, “My First Concert,” Daly recalled that he was in junior high when he saw Bob Marley’s eldest son perform at the Santa Barbara Bowl.
“Just when Ziggy came out, the lights went down, and we were so excited and the reggae music started,” Daly said. “I remember looking up and seeing smoke everywhere. And I looked around, and I was like, ‘What is going on with all this smoke?’ “
Luckily, his friend’s dad was able to field Daly’s query in a delicate manner. “Carson, that’s happy smoke,” he said.
