Roots singer Jah Luke is the definition of reggae’s journeyman. Recording since his teens, he has trod the independent route throughout his career.
He did it his way on Love And Happiness, his second album, which will be released on his Jah Luke label through a distribution deal with VP Records.
Jah Luke started production on what turned out to be a 10-track set last summer. Footing the bill for an album, he discovered, is not easy.
“It took mi a year, but gradually mi get done wid some help from the musician dem an’ tings work out,” he said.
The Uprising Roots Band bassist/keyboardist Paul ‘Computer Paul’ Henton and keyboardist Diavallan ‘Dia’ Fearon are some of the musicians who played on Love And Happiness.Jah Luke (born Ewart Ivey) is originally from Lawrence Tavern in rural St Andrew, but grew up in Grants Pen. He made his recording debut in the late 1980’s with the song Giant Size.
His first album, In The Streets, was released in 2012.
