Listen Mi Nuh MaN, the EP from singer Sadekie Lennox, was released at Cafe Delite in Kingston recently.
A fair-sized gathering came out to hear the EP produced by Clifton Lawrence for 5 Stars Recording Inc.
The 27-year-old Lennox, who once worked as a correctional officer, told the Jamaica Observer that Listen Mi Nuh Man reflects his musical outlook.
“It’s a variety of songs for everyone. You have songs about relationships and songs about reality and everyday living,” he said.
The title song was inspired by a ‘slang’ Lennox has used for some time.
“I have been using ‘listen mi nuh man’ for a while and when we were searching for a name for the EP, me and my team decided to go with that. It’s basically asking people to give my music a listening ear,” Lennox noted.
Other songs on the EP are Be Your Motivation, The Life They Live, Morning Love, Crazy Girl, Never Fear, Caribbean Life, and the Clymaxx.
Initially, Lennox sang on the church choir and developed his love for music while in his teens. He was also a member of the St Jude’s Marching Band, playing the side drums.
He resigned his job as a correctional officer in 2010 to focus on music. He worked with Austria-based producer Fabio Kaindl, which resulted in the songs Fi Wi Mama, Tonight, and Rise and Shine.
