DANCEHALL deejay Cham (formerly Baby Cham) is gearing up for the release of his third studio album, Lawless, in October.

Produced by hit-maker Dave Kelly, the 14-track set had an initial release date of June 2015, but was shifted to accommodate Cham’s hectic touring schedule.

“Dave Kelly is very flexible. We’ve been recording in hotel rooms and on the tour bus. Our manager is very good at strategically picking spots for us to tour, so normally I’d do three weeks on the road then for that last week, I’d be in the studio with Dave getting as much work in,” Cham told the Jamaica Observer.

He said he intends to “test the waters” by the release of Lawless’s first single in September.

“We have four singles to choose from and we have to pick the right one for the right time,” he said.

Cham said Lawless boasts an impressive line-up of artists including Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, Bounty Killer, Mykal Roze, Miss O, as well as a surprise act.

“With this new album Lawless, we’re going somewhere different. It’s always about fusing music. Dave and I have always been pushing the envelope and that’s the direction of this album also,” he said.

Cham (given name Damian Beckett) began his career in the early 1990’s. He is known for hits including Many Many, Gallang Yah Gal, Vitamin S, and Another Level, featuring Bounty Killer.

Since the beginning of his career, he has been associated with Kelly, who produced his previous albums WoW… The Story (2000) and Ghetto Story (2006).
