Susan “Dr. Sue” Davis

In the 1980’s and early 1990’s Susan Lycett worked as a Professional Actress and an esteemed Arts Administrator.  As a then member of the British Actor’s Equity, she worked and toured extensively in the UK.

In the mid 1990’s’ she took a creative break and decided to pursue further and higher education.  Several degrees later, Dr. Susan Lycett Davis is now ready again to educate, entertain and elevate the rich heritage of which she is so proud.

Known as Dr. Sue, in the entertainment circle, her extensive and diverse work and life experiences make her material and delivery rich, humorous and educational. In her spare time, Dr. Sue writes, entertains and does keynote and motivational speaking.  Her personal catch phrase is “British by birth, Jamaican by choice and American by naturalization.” In 2010 she launched her first CD of poetry called “Ode to Miss Lou” a compilation of performance pieces that span Jamaica, USA and UK. In 2013 she published her book of Poetry called “Ode to Miss Lou…From the Soul of Dr Sue” – a Jamaica 50 Collectible Edition.  www.drsueandyou.net.

Today, she volunteers her time to work and support creative arts in her local community in various capacities.  She is a regular participant in community events; the annual Louise Bennett Coverley Reading Festival, at Broward College; she was a  Moderator at the 2015 South Florida Book Festival at the African American Research Library and performed at the 2015 GRACE Jerk Festival in New York.  She wrote and performed in the Broward 100’s sold out Stage Performance entitled “WE”.

Dr. Davis is a university professor, a devote Christian, active church member, and a woman who has found her purpose in life…to inspire, serve and educate!  She was recognized by Legacy Magazine in 2015, as one of South Florida’s Top Black Educators.
